2006-The Year of blah [Jan. 3rd, 2007|09:20 pm]
The proper behavior all through the holiday season is to be drunk. This drunkenness culminates on New Year's Eve, when you get so drunk you kiss the person you're married to. ~P.J. O'Rourke

It is now 2007, January third to be exact, and as I look back onto the barren wasteland that was 2006 I wonder if I will get misty eyed. Will I yearn for what was in that year? Will 2007 be worth any more in salt then 2006? Can the surprises, laughs, pains, exultations, and ridiculousness match those that happened in 2006? Who fuckin knows, I am merely here to offer my review of 2006. What happened in a year that could be tossed out with the bathwater for the most part, at least until August for me personally. August completely changed my life, for the better of course, but some of the world wide events put me into that stage of rage where I wish I had old TVs and a baseball bat.The long winded rantingsCollapse )

Life, The Universe and Everything [Dec. 7th, 2006|05:11 pm]

Who else out there is so enamored with Heroes that it isn’t funny? Of course we all love Hiro, but I am so sad that they didn’t keep Charlie around. True, it may be because she was a gorgeous redhead, but I would have loved to see what happened between Hiro and Charlie. At the end of this entry I will go over some theories of mine as to what is going to happen, and I will give you ample warning in case you haven’t seen this week’s episode.

We, Anita and I, ventured out last Friday and saw Van Wilder 2: The Rise of Taj. Now I know this movie has taken a pounding by some critics and fans (probably due to the lack of Ryan Reynolds) but we enjoyed ourselves very much. I thought it was funny and down right hilarious in a few parts. Kal Penn can carry a movie, but for some reason whenever I look at him now all I see is a bad guy. Not just because he was one of Lex’s henchmen in Superman Returns, but he is also playing a bad guy this season on 24.

Speaking of the lovely and vivacious Anita, things are going splendid in that arena of life. Who would imagine that a year ago today I was wondering what the fuck was going in my life, why had I been alluded by love for so long. Here I am a year later and I have the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with…loves a funny thing. Christmas shopping has not been as amusing, particularly because I thought I had finished all of her shopping before Thanksgiving but as the last week has proven I was wrong, by a large margin. So what if I doubled the amount of gifts she is receiving, she deserves them for having to put up with someone as bat-shit crazy as me.

Now you’re wondering to yourself, what the hell does that Bald Chicken mean in the title? It is quite simple actually, all you have to do is read this and this to get a firm grasp on what I’m talking about. It reminds me that while the Republicans have their religious zealots and their sad pathetic opinions; the Democrats and left-wingers have their crazy ass animal people. Truly these are a group of people who were not brought up with the teachings of Dr. Dennis Leary what so ever.

The Iraq Study Group, or Quakers Who Used To Hold Power aka Daddies Buddies Who Are Coming to Save My Collective Ass, have released their report. I’m just going to shrug and shake my head because it was basically what I thought it would be; a few good points, no real solution. If anything this administration’s War of Terror has emboldened the terrorist element in the Middle East and has created a new generation of Extremists who now hate America. The sad thing is they don’t hate us anymore for our political stance or our allies, we are invaders and for some an even deadlier reason, vengeance. I know if I was an Iraqi whose family was killed by the Americans that I too would want revenge. I believe what Al Gore recently said was very very true, This was the worst strategic mistake in the entire history of the United States.

We are not going to be leaving Iraq quietly, hell not even as smoothly as we went in. It should be of no surprise, many of the people who orchestrated this war are the same ones who in the 60s and 70s fully believed in staying in Vietnam. It’s sad that Presidents who want to withdraw troops are assassinated, but those who want to stay are given free reign to do whatever the hell they want.

The WWE has been on top of the wrestling for the span of the 21st Century. They vanquished WCW and choked out ECW, so why are we treated to utter garbage every week? I made the mistake of purchasing December to Dismember on Sunday, the second worst PPV I have ever seen (WCW Uncensored The Original is number one) and it almost makes me want to cry. Hell, the EWA show the night before was ten times the show DTD was on Sunday. Now there is news that Vinnie Mac has fired Paul Heyman, blaming him for the failures of the PPV. Vince, a word of advice, if you want ECW to be ECW stop making booking decisions. Paul, in my humble opinion, is the best booker of all time, let him do his magic. The most over person in your company right now is CM Punk and he wouldn’t have been brought up without Paul. Now I worry that he will flounder and disappear since he isn’t favored.

I knew as soon as Punk and then shortly there after RVD was eliminated from the Elimination Chamber that the crowd would shit on the match, and they did. I like Lashley, I see talent in the kid, but when test lasts longer then your two most over people in that faction, the fans will shit on the match. You blame Paul for the failure, but you only had two matches announced for the PPV and one of them you changed ON the PPV. You give him people that no one really cares for; see Test, Hardcore Holly, and Big Show. If a man only has shit and bread, he can only make a shit sandwich. That being said I CAN NOT WAIT to see if TNA does the SMART thing and hire Paul. Imagine a Paul not limited to Vince’s ideas, IMAGINE what he could do with Samoa Joe, Austin Star, Raven’s faction, etc etc etc. I’m wet just thinking about it.

I would speak on the BCS debacle, but you’ve probably read every opinion on every other website. There won’t be a playoff system for one simple reason, money. It isn’t the University Presidents who attempt to claim academia or the traditionalist who don’t want to lose bowls. No, the simple reason is money, hard cold cash. The companies, who have put their name on everything, including the jock straps of the players, will never allow their cash cow to go away. It doesn’t matter that Louisville may win in a playoff system, or a healthy Texas team, it won’t happen, say good night Gracie.

Now then, time for my theories on Heroes, do not read on if you don’t want any kind of spoiler.

A thought just occurred to me, how the hell did Sylar get up and walk away from the fall with Peter? Peter dies if Claire hadn’t shown up for him to Mimic, how the fuck did Sylar get up? One conclusion is that has already gotten to someone like Claire and can’t be that harmed. Did he use his Jedi powers to prevent him from hitting the ground ala Lil’ Clark in Superman Returns?

Onto Peter, there are many thoughts as to what is going on with him and this new sickness, here is my theory. Peter is basically Mimic from the X-Men comics. When he was next to Sylar he was able to Mimic the power to see how things work. His brain, his sub-conscious is now figuring out how his Mimic powers work, and how to get them to stay with him constantly. Hence why he was (maybe) able to go to the future and see himself explode. Though I think it is merely a combination of Hiro’s power and Isaac’s, instead of painting the future, he goes to see it. Of course we know that the future has changed since the beginning of the show.

I have a theory that Eden is not dead, that she did not kill herself. She has the power of suggestion and as such she made Sylar believe he did what we all saw him do. That way he believes she is dead and won’t go to look for her and she’ll be allowed to do what she wants and Claire’s father is none the wiser. Which brings us to the Haitian, I believe his power isn’t so much telepathic but he’s a neutralizer, think Leech from The Last Stand. When he is around your powers cease to work completely, it’s why Sylar couldn’t do anything, why the cop can’t read minds, etc etc etc.

Where is all this going, I’m not sure, but we will see the exploding man by the end of the season. I for one look forward to the season finale (prediction) to see Hiro fight Godzilla. Not only that I can’t wait to see Sulu, and apparently I only have to wait until the second episodes when the new shows start again! Dr. Who, one of them, is also the person who will debut on the first episode when they come back! Rumor has it he may be…hard to see, if you catch my drift.

Monday is now booked, between 24 and Heroes it now rivals my Thursday nights. The current plan, or what I plan to tell J-Rock House, is to watch Heroes live and then watch 24 without commercial because, well, that’s how impatient we are with Jack Bauer. That makes the TV shows I watch on a regular basis 24, Heroes, Lost, Project Runway, Smallville and Supernatural. The Daily Show and Colbert don’t need to be named, they’re ALWAYS on. Until next time just remember…A super hero doesn't use his power for personal gain.

I'm not part of any organization that has initials. [Nov. 21st, 2006|06:53 pm]
Ah, the week of Thanksgiving. Growing up it was known for large feasts and playoff football for my family. As I grew older it was a time to, for some reason, to watch the Dolphins and Cowboys on TV, why they are the two teams who almost always play on Thanksgiving is beyond me. Cowboys I get, but why not the Redskins? Why not have the Cowboys vs. Redskins game every Thanksgiving, does that not make sense? How about a Patriots vs. Redskins game to celebrate the almost total genocide of my people, can we do that?

Now, I’m not going to go off on a rant about genocide or what the “white devil” did to us, it’s been done by others and probably much more efficiently. So what if those pilgrims would have died during the winter if not for the Native Americans and if the thanksgiving dinner was to sign a treaty between the two people, should we really care? Of course we should care; we should also know and be ashamed of what we did to an entire race of people. Yes, I understand that nations conquer but nothing like what they did in the Americas.

Where am I going with all of this, not really sure, perhaps it is merely the nervous energy I have about having to meet Anita’s parents in a mere two days. Yeah, a bit nervous but then I remember that parents love me. That, and apparently her parents are fighting over who is going to be easier on me. Yes, I said easier, it’s an odd concept no doubt. Regardless I will win them over with my superior cooking skills including the now infamous Pumpkin Dump Cake which has been sequestered by the host of the Thanksgiving Dinner we attended on Sunday. I would wonder if there will be any left when we go to retrieve the glass pan tomorrow, but I severely doubt it.

On a happier note, since it has been some time since I actually updated anything, and even more so when it wasn’t a political rant, I shall update on the personal life. Anita and I continue to defy odds and stupefy everyone by going on strong, if not stronger. We are extremely happy; words cannot express how much she means to me. I will squash any and all rumors right now that you will not see an engagement from us this holiday season so stop asking. She is the world to me and the best thing to ever happen to me. Also, if at all possible, she is clumsier then I am…evidence is the broken foot she currently has.

She is coming home with me for the holidays to meet my family, friends, family friends, local dog catcher, House Rep and the neighborhood hobo apparently. We may even get a meeting with the Govenator seeing as everyone else in the state of California wants to meet her. Luckily, other then my grandparents, all my Christmas shopping is done. Yes I, the man who usually does his Christmas shopping the week before the actual event, have completed my shopping a week BEFORE Thanksgiving and Black Friday alone. Whose house, runs house?

I, like many of you, have added a show to my viewing schedule. Of course it would be Heroes and like everyone I know my favorite character is Hiro. The show just seems to be getting better, specially with the rumor that Hiro’s father will be on the show and played by none other then…George Takei, yes Mr. Sulu is Hiro’s father. That, in the simplest term, rocks. I am also deeply saddened by the loss of Charlie, Hiro’s would be girlfriend, she was going to be my second favorite character and now all is sadness.

Smallville has been exceptional this year as well, specially the addition of the Green Arrow and Martian Manhunter. Yes, the creature we saw last week that saved Clark from Batista was none other then Martian Manhunter. I had speculated to others that it was either Firestorm or Vindicator, but I’m glad they introduce him right before the Justice League episode.

Speaking of people with powers, Marvel Ultimate Alliance is fucking money; I’ve had a blast playing that game. When you can make a team consisting of Wolverine, Deadpool, Thor and Ghost Rider, you know something in the world is right.

I’m feeling creative this week, maybe between the mixture of the show watching and going to see two of the eight movies to die for (The Grave Dancers and The Hamiltons) added in with the dose of the second best bond ever (fucking fabulous movie I highly recommend to all) I don’t know, but I feel like writing again. I am also going to start producing and making the DVDs for the EWA if my Christmas plans all come to fruition. With that, I plan on making my own video company for the creation of DVDs for wrestling and branching into the growing wedding videos market. Add a few concerts in there and right there you have a business.

That’s right, when we move to Houston the plan right now is for me to make my own video company to make Wrestling, wedding, football highlights and concert DVDs. I am toying with the name right now but the one I like at the current moment is Dementis Video. May be a bit weird when it comes to trying to get Wedding bookings, but I’ll play with it. So here is to hoping that I can create my own little business in Houston and really become productive as the misses.

Wreslting Ramblings [Nov. 20th, 2006|08:50 pm]
Since the WWE has decided to put out great DVD sets about some of the stars of yesteryear and the like I figured I would make a few top ten lists to enthrall the viewers, that would be you, about a few of my thoughts on pro wrestling. What I have come up with are introductory mind you and I will expand in later times to things like top ten tag teams or top ten worst gimmicks things of that nature. Today I merely have two and they are as follows.
